Himachal’s daughter Renuka Thakur’s scintillating performance in the Commonwealth Games led the Indian women’s cricket team to an easy victory. Renuka Thakur took four wickets against Barbados while bowling brilliantly. With this, Renuka has come at number one in the list of highest wicket-taker in this competition.
Renuka has so far taken nine wickets in three matches in the competition. In the match played against Barbados, India had given a target of 163 runs. The team of Barbados, chasing the target, could not understand Renuka’s brilliant bowling. Renuka has become the main bowler of India due to her strong performance for some time.

Renuka Thakur is originally from Pasra, Rohru in Shimla district. Father Kesar Singh died at the age of three. Renuka’s father wanted the daughter to become a cricketer. Renuka’s mother works in a government job. Renuka started playing cricket after the death of her father and was later selected for the academy of Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, Dharamsala. Renuka has played the first ODI match in 2019.
