Himachal Weather: Rain continues in Himachal, 147 roads stalled, youth shed in Markanda river, Orange alert today

Heavy rain continues to wreak havoc in Himachal Pradesh. Amidst the alert of the Meteorological Department, there is heavy rain in many districts of the state since last night. Due to heavy rains, 147 roads were blocked till Tuesday morning due to landslides at various places. Apart from this, 475 power transformers and 50 drinking water schemes are also affected. Maximum 43 roads are stalled in Kullu district.

While 33 roads are blocked in Chamba, 32 in Shimla and 21 in Sirmaur district. On the other hand, an orange alert has been issued by the Meteorological Center Shimla for heavy rain in the state today. While a yellow alert has been issued for August 25. Tourists and locals have been advised to stay away from rivers and streams. Along with this, the advisory issued by the concerned departments has been asked to be followed. The weather is likely to remain bad in the entire state till August 30.

The danger of flash floods in these districts

Due to heavy rains, the water level in rivers and streams has increased, threatening floods in many districts. The Meteorological Department has warned of flash floods in many parts of Kangra, Chamba, Mandi, Kullu, Shimla, Solan, Kinnaur and Sirmaur during the next 24 hours.

Devastation in Chauhar Valley, children reached school risking their lives

In Mandi district’s Chauhar Ghati, torrential rains have thrown life out of gear. In the past, the Phyungalu-Dharmehar-Sudhar and Silh-Budhani roads were blocked due to landslides at various places. At the same time, due to the rains again on Tuesday night, the problems of the people have increased. Students of Kungad village of Silhabudhani Panchayat are reaching school by crossing the road which was closed due to landslide at risk.

A car has been damaged due to road collapse near Karsehar in Sudhar Marg. A tipper has been damaged due to falling of trees in Silhabudhani road. The road has been completely closed due to landslides and rocks falling from the hill near Dagwan Dhar. It is also difficult to get two wheelers here. Sudhar Panchayat Pradhan Nisha Thakur said that the local revenue officer has been informed about the loss.

At the same time, there has been destruction due to landslides due to torrential rains in the Government Secondary School of the district, Tawarafi. School in-charge Rakesh Kaushal said that due to heavy rains, a landslide occurred from the hill in front of the school grounds and huge stones reached inside the school campus. A stone hit the railing of the second floor of the school building directly. Thankfully there was no casualty. He said that the information about the damage has been sent to the top officials of the Education Department.

Heavy rain created havoc in Chamba

At the same time, heavy rains have caused extensive damage in Saluni, Churah sub-divisions in Chamba district. Due to the rise in water level, the bridge over the Marhi Nala on Saluni Himgiri road (Shukrah) has been washed away. Due to this the vehicular movement has come to a standstill on the Saluni-Himgiri road. Maize crop has been ruined due to heavy rains in village Pritmas of Gram Panchayat (Kuted Budhoda).
