High Court issues notice to Rajasthan government for not filling women panel posts | Jodhpur News – Times of India

JODHPUR: Taking a serious note of its failure in appointing the chairperson and members of the Rajasthan State Commission for Women in stipulated time despite assurance to the court, the Rajasthan High Court has issued notices to the state government seeking reply in 14 days.
Petitioner Ishwar Prasad moved a contempt petition against the state government in the high court seeking action against the chief secretary and the principal secretary (Women and Child Development) and it came up for hearing on Tuesday.
“It is very serious that despite the directions of the high court to fill the vacant positions of chairperson and members of the Rajasthan State Commission for Women in two months on last hearing on September 29 last year, the seats continue to remain vacant and no compliance of the court’s order has been made,” said the petitioner.
The AAG appearing in the court on the previous hearing also submitted in the court that the said appointments would be made within a period of two months.
Allowing the petition, the division bench of Justice Sandeep Mehta and Justice Vinod Kumar Bharwani issued notices to the chief secretary and the principal secretary (Women and Child Development) seeking reply in 14 days that why contempt proceedings are not carried out against them.
Petitioner Prasad had moved a petition in the high court post of Chairperson of the Commission is lying vacant since January 2019, and post of three Members of the Commission are lying vacant since November 2019, and therefore, at present the Commission is not functioning.
