The girl students had filed two petitions in the High Court against the ban from wearing the hijab, which is to be heard today i.e. on Tuesday.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has asked schoolgirls to abide by the state government’s rules regarding uniforms till the High Court gives its verdict in the matter.

He said that rules have been made regarding uniform in schools and colleges, so that all the students look alike. These rules are also mentioned in the constitution and it is necessary to follow them. He said that these rules have also been written in the Karnataka Education Act. We have also issued a notification regarding this.

Regarding the matter, the girls had filed a petition in the High Court saying that hijab is mandatory in Islam, so they should be allowed it. At the same time, Pramod Muthalik of Shri Ram Sena in Hubli said that are you making India Pakistan or Afghanistan? If you are asking for burqa or hijab then you can go to Pakistan.

Two colleges took two days off
Seeing the growing controversy, two colleges (Shanteswara PU and GRB College) in Vijayapura, Karnataka have been given leave for two days, while entry has been given in the college in Udupi. On the other hand, Government PU College of Kundapura has allowed Muslim girl students to wear hijab in the campus on Monday. Along with this, the rule was also implemented that they would sit in a separate class. These girls were protesting outside the gate from the beginning to the end of the college every day.

this is the whole matter
On January 1, 6 Muslim girl students were barred from attending classes at a college in Udupi, Karnataka, for wearing the hijab. Behind this, the college management had given the reason for the new uniform policy. After this, these girls started a protest by filing a petition in the Karnataka High Court saying that not giving permission to wear hijab is a violation of their fundamental right under Articles 14 and 25 of the Constitution.

28 Muslim girl students of Kundapura College were stopped from attending class for wearing hijab. In response to girls wearing hijabs, some Hindu groups forced boys to wear saffron shawls on college campuses.

Karnataka government said – rules have to be followed
In this matter, Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh said that the girl students who are insisting on wearing hijab will not get entry in government educational institutions. He asked the protesting girl students to sit in a separate room of the college but they were not taught.

Hijab controversy happened even 3 years ago
Even about 3 years ago, there was a dispute in the school regarding the hijab. Then it was decided that no one would come wearing the hijab. For the last few days, students started coming to school wearing hijab. Protesting this, some students decided to wear saffron. Although the school management had also asked these girls many times not to wear hijab, but they did not agree.
