Health Dept Sets Target For Vaccination Of 2.52l Children | Allahabad News – Times of India

PRAYAGRAJ: District health authorities have set a target of vaccinating over 2.52 lakh teenagers in the 12-14 age group in Sangam city beginning Wednesday.
On the first day, the covid vaccination for children in the age group of 12-14 years will be held at two sites- MLN Medical college and TB Sapru (Beli) Hospital.
With Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya having announced for inoculation of children aged between 12 and 14 years from Wednesday, officials of the health department are busy in chalking out strategy for the vaccination campaign.
District immunization officer and additional chief medical officer (ACMO) Dr Teerath Lal told TOI that a total of 2.52 lakh children in the 12-14 age group would be covered under the vax drive.
He added, “In the initial stage, inoculations will be done at two centers including MLN Medical college and TB Sapru hospital. In all, over a dozen special health teams have been roped in to administer jabs to children.”
The Covid-19 vaccine to be administered to the children to 12-14 yeas age group would be Corbevax, manufactured by Hyderabad-based firm. Dr Lal further stated that online registration facility will also be made available to target beneficiaries and the vaccination of children will be done at both urban and rural located CHCs. Names of the centres will be made available in the CoWIN app.
The health officials said that they are making additional arrangements to make the drive a success and plans are afoot to fix a quota for walk-in inoculations as well. Other modalities will be worked out in a day or two, added the officials. Besides, the health department is also gearing up to administer precautionary doses to everyone aged 60 years and above.
It is estimated that around 7.11 crore children will be vaccinated under the new age group across the country.
