Haryana: Man copies UP BJP MLA’s ‘hateful’ tweet, posts on Facebook, booked for outraging religious feelings | Chandigarh News – Times of India

YAMUNANAGAR: Following reactions to cancellation of Prime Minister’s (PM) rally in Firozepur, Punjab, the Haryana police in Yamunanagar district booked a man for outraging religious feelings of Sikh community on Thursday, allegedly for uploading a “hateful” post on Facebook.
He had allegedly copied the post from the tweet of a UP BJP MLA.
On the complaint of Harpreet Singh of a village in Chhachhrauli area of Yamunanagar district, a case was registered against an accused identified as Palak Aggarwal under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious act, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class…) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Chhachhrauli police station on January 6.
In his complaint, Harpreet alleged, “Palak Aggarwal, son of a shopkeeper in Chhachhrauli town uploaded a post against the Sikh community. There is serious protest in Sikh community about this post.”

When contacted, Chhachhrauli police station house officer (SHO) Satish Kumar said, “We have registered a case yesterday (on Thursday) and Facebook record and IP address is being obtained after starting the investigation. Accused belongs to Chhachhrauli town only and we have roped in some community representatives to maintain harmony among communities. The situation is peaceful in our area.”
Complainant Harpreet Singh said, “Following the cancellation of PM Modi’s rally in Firozepur, in his post, Palak Aggarwal wrote (on Facebook) that Indira Gandhi samjhne ki bhool na karna Shri Narendra Damodar Das Modi naam hai, likhne ko kagaj aur padhne ko itihas nahi milega.” (Do not misunderstand Shri Narendra Damodar Das Modi as Indira Gandhi, will not get paper to write and history to read).
Harpreet Singh said, “Even children can understand this hate-filled statement that it is directed towards Sikh community with regards to 1984. When we opposed the post by Palak, he deleted it but we have lodged a complaint against him. People want to live peacefully and we have strong brotherhood among communities in our region.”
“Some mischievous elements want to outrage Sikh sentiments to cause riots and fight among people. Strict action should be taken against such people who want to spoil the peaceful environment”. said Harpreet Singh.
On January 5, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi skipped his visit to a political rally in Ferozepur, Punjab, following road blockade by some protesting farmers, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) sitting MLA Abhijeet Singh Sanga, from Bithoor constituency in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh (UP) had posted exactly same objectionable wording in his tweet from his verified Twitter handle @BJP4Abhijeet.
The tweet by BJP’s Bithoor MLA Abhijeet made at 16.38 hours on January 5, written in Hindi reads, “Indira Gandhi samjhne ki bhool na karna Shri Narendra Damodar Das Modi naam hai, likhne ko kagaj aur padhne ko itihas nahi milega!!!!” .

As per the snapshot of MLA Abhijeet’s tweet available with TOI, it was liked by 19.6K Twitter users, while 4,440 had retweeted it and 180 quote tweeted it and its content went viral on social media on Wednesday.
Sources said Palak Aggarwal copied this viral post from social media and posted it on his Facebook, allegedly directed towards Sikh community. However, Bithoor MLA Abhijeet later deleted his tweet and changed his statement in favour of Sikhs on Thursday.
In his second statement, MLA Abhijeet said, “My every word is against the killer of Sikhs, the Congress which did not spare its family for the chair, and yesterday, the same conspiracy happened against our PM Shri Modi ji! The murderers of Sikhs in 84, are doing the work of provoking Sikhs, you will not be successful in this. Jo bole so nihal-sat sri akal.”

Another verified Twitter user Sushil Kedia @sushilkedia tweeted at 21.44 hours on January 5, “If even a scratch would have come to @narendramodi ji, then you must understand @rahulgandhi what could have happened…?! 1984 would be dwarfed in all memories, be aware clearly. Modji ji is the head of a family of 130 crore Indians.”

Similarly, Sushil Kedia also tweeted an unequivocal apology on Friday, “#UnequivocalApology If this tweet has come to appear due to the limitations of no. of characters allowed in a tweet as anything more than a deep concern that in 1984 we lost one Prime Minister and India suffered just too much & any such recurrence has to be avoided at all costs.”
Hitting out at the hate-filled statements against Sikhs following recent incidents related to PM Modi in Punjab, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh termed it as “hate terrorism” and demanded from government of India to “register sedition cases against those making such statements”.
Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said, “This hate terrorism against Sikhs on social media is even more dangerous than the armed terrorism. Whatever happened seems lack of coordination between officials of state & centre governments. Targeting Sikhs with hate-filled statements on social media is highly deplorable and it is hate terrorism.”
“Surprisingly, the government is not taking action against people who are spreading and threatening with this hate terror of repeating 1984 like massacre against Sikhs even when it is done from prominent & responsible handles & persons”, said Jathedar Harpreet Singh.
“Government of India should stop this increasing hate terrorism in country as it is highly dangerous as compared to terrorism. Sikhs have nothing to do with whatever incidents took place (in Ferozepur). Cases of Desh Dhroh (sedition) should be registered against those who are doing this hate propaganda against Sikhs on social media”, added the Jathedar.
