Congress high command removed Haryana in-charge Vivek Bansal. Shakti Singh Gohil has been appointed in-charge of Haryana in place of Vivek Bansal. He will also have the additional charge of Delhi. Along with this, the stature of Kumari Selja has also been increased by the party.

He has been put in charge of Chhattisgarh. Also, he has been appointed as the General Secretary. Selja resigned from the post of Congress President on 27 April 2022 due to differences with former CM Bhupendra Hooda. The main reason for the removal of Vivek Bansal from the post of in-charge of Haryana is the defeat of Ajay Maken in the Haryana Rajya Sabha elections. Because there was cross voting in the election. After this, relations with Vivek Bansal and former CM Bhupendra Hooda also did not remain cordial.

There were 3 candidates on 2 seats of Haryana Rajya Sabha. The victory of BJP candidate Krishna Panwar was certain in the election. But there was a contest between Independent candidate Kartikeya Sharma and Congress candidate Ajay Maken. Kuldeep Bishnoi cross-voted in support of the independent candidate. While the vote of one Congress MLA was cancelled. Due to which Ajay Maken lost. Kiran Chowdhary was also accused of cross voting. But he openly replied to this and told the conspiracy spread by the opponents.

Congress in-charge Vivek Bansal till date could not reveal which rebel MLA is this second vote. Vivek Bansal has told his report to the high command. Whereas former CM Bhupendra Hooda and Ajay Maken were angry with the functioning of Vivek Bansal. Ajay Maken has filed a petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court challenging the election. Ajay Maken has also been the President of Delhi Congress.

Congress lost two consecutive elections under the chairmanship of Vivek Bansal. In the first by-election, the bail of Congress candidate Pawan Bainiwal was forfeited in Ellenabad. After this, the Congress was also defeated in the Adampur by-election in November 2022. Vivek Bansal did not even come to campaign in the Adampur by-election. In such a situation, it can be inferred that Vivek Bansal’s relationship with Hooda was not good. His departure was almost certain after the defeat in the Adampur by-election.

Along with this, he was also appointed as the General Secretary.
