Former Punjab Chief Minister and Punjab Lok Congress President Captain Amarinder Singh called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence in New Delhi on Monday. This meeting of Captain and Shah lasted for about a quarter of an hour. This meeting between the two leaders, three days before the counting of votes, created a stir in the political corridors. The meeting of the two leaders is also being seen mixed with manipulative politics amid speculation that no party will get a clear majority in Punjab.

The Captain, who came out after meeting Amit Shah, only said that he had discussed the latest situation in Punjab with the Union Home Minister. The Captain said that Punjab’s election results are yet to come and it was their normal meeting. After the election results, considering the situation at that time, the government formation in Punjab will be discussed.

When asked what issues did he discuss with Shah? And did it also include the issue of national security? So the Captain said that he cannot share everything with the media.

On the question of increasing the interference of the Central Government in the Bhakra-Beas Management Board (BBMB), removal of the Permanent Representative of Punjab and taking away the authority of Punjab over The Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO), the Captain said that he had asked the Union Home Minister. They did not raise these issues in the meeting together, but on all these issues they have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Captain said that at the time of the division of Punjab in the year 1966, it was decided that the ratio of employees of Punjab and Haryana in Chandigarh would be 60:40. Among the board members of BBMB, there will be one permanent member each from Punjab and Haryana. He has cited this in a letter to the Prime Minister.

On a question related to the results of the Punjab Assembly elections to be announced on March 10, the Captain said that he cannot comment on it as he is not a prophet. Yes, he can definitely say that the performance of his party Punjab Lok Congress and BJP is going to be good in this election.
