New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said that if Congress would have accepted Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s words, than the country would have been saved from the tragedy of partition, news agency ANI reported.
CM Yogi Adityanath expressed this view while releasing the book ‘Veer Savarkar – Who Could Stop the Partition of India and His National Security Vision’ on the birth anniversary of Veer Savarkar in Lucknow.
Addressing the gathering, CM Adityanath said, “Veer Savarkar was never given the honor he deserved after independence. Instead he was given 2 life sentences.”
Speaking about Hindutva, CM Adityanath said, “He did not even get his ancestral property till 1960. The word Hindutva was coined by Veer Savarkar. Many words of Hindi vocabulary are attributed to Veer Savarkar. But the government of that time compared him with Jinnah.”

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, well known as Veer Savarkar, was born in Bhagur on May 28, 1883. Many BJP officials have referred to him as one of the country’s most “influential independence warriors.” Savarkar was also a politician, a lawyer, an activist, and a writer. One of his many publications, ‘Hindutva: Who is a Hindu?,’ is his most well-known.
