AHMEDABAD: Gujarat in 24 hours ending 5pm on Friday added 10,019 new Covid-19 positive cases. The number is 10.4% less compared to 11,176 on Thursday. It was the state’s second consecutive day of 10,000-plus daily cases.
With the update, the cumulative cases of Covid-19 crossed 9 lakh in Gujarat. In terms of cumulative cases, Gujarat is 11th among Indian states. In terms of active cases, Gujarat is 9th with 55,798.
The state recorded deaths of two active patients – one each in Valsad and Navsari districts – taking the official death toll due to the pandemic to 10,144.
The new cases included 3,090 from Ahmedabad city, 2,986 from Surat city, 1,274 from Vadodara city, 296 from Rajkot city and 273 from Surat district among others. The daily discharge ratio was 48% at 4,831 on Friday.
Gujarat in 24 hours vaccinated 14,260 persons for the first dose and 17,169 for the second. In all, 5 crore are administered first and 4.39 crore second dose of Covid vaccine.
The state vaccinated 7,550 teens in the 15-18 years age group, taking the total to 20.72 lakh. Gujarat administered booster doses to 7,017 healthcare and frontline workers (HFW and FLW), taking the total to 4.77 lakh.
The state’s overall recovery rate is 92.7% whereas out of active cases, 54 patients were on ventilator, mentioned in the state health department bulletin.
