Govt To Celebrate National Flag Designer, Amit Shah To Launch ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Anthem Today

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will participate in the ‘Tiranga Utsav’ being organised by the Ministry of Culture in New Delhi today. The event is being organised to celebrate the freedom fighter Pingali Venkayya who designed the national flag and made a huge contribution to the nation.

The ‘Tiranga Utsav’ has been organised today on the occasion of Venkayya’s 146th Birth Anniversary. According to the press release by the Ministry of Culture, the event will include the release of a commemorative Postal Stamp in honor of Pingali Venkayya for his invaluable contribution to the country and his family will feleiciated by the chief guest Amit Shah.

The Home Minister will launch the “Har Ghar Tiranga” anthem and video during the ‘Tiranga Utsav’. The musical evening will see live performances by maestros such as Kailash Kher and Kailasa, Harshdeep Kaur, and Dr. Ragini Makkhar.

Other ministers who are scheduled to join include Ashwini Vaishnav, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Meenakshi Lekhi, and Devusinh Chauhan. Also, on August 3, MPs will take out a bike rally from Red Fort, which will be flagged off by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.

Pingali Venkayya, a freedom fighter and the designer of India’s National Flag was a follower of Gandhian principles, and it was upon the request of Mahatma Gandhi that he designed the Indian National Flag with saffron, white and green colors with chakra in the middle.

To commemorate the 75 years of India’s Independence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his last Mann Ki Baat address appealed to all to replace their social media profile pictures with that of the national flag. He also urged every citizen to fly the tricolour from August 13 to August 15 at their homes.
