Kanpur: The state government, under the Negotiable Instrument Acthas declared March 18 and March 19 as public holidays on account of Holi festival, said district magistrate Kanpur Nagar Neha Sharma in a press release.
Meanwhile, all liquor shops, both foreign and country-made liquor, model shops, premier shops and bhang shops will remain closed on March 18.
The DM said Holika would be burnt on March 17 and colour will be played on March 18. To maintain peace and tranquility in the district, exercising the powers given under section 59 of the Excise Act, she had ordered closure of all liquor and bhang shops in the district, the press release said.
