Government employees in Bengal are demanding an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) at par with the Centre. The employees also protested about this. On this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Monday that even if the employees want to behead them, the Bengal government cannot give them an increase in DA. He said this during the budget session. He also called it an opposition-backed protest.

CM said – accept what we are giving
Mamta pointed out the difference in the salary structure of the central and state governments and claimed that the TMC government is already giving 105% DA to its employees. He said how much more do you want. State government employees have a different pay scale from central employees.

Accept what we are giving. If you don’t like me, cut my head off. But beyond that, I can’t do anything.

3% increase in allowance, employees do not agree with it
Significantly, in the budget of 2023-24, West Bengal Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya had announced a 3% increase in dearness allowance for state government employees and pensioners.
The state government employees did not agree with this. Due to this, many organizations are opposing the increase in dearness allowance at par with the central government employees.
