A madrasa was demolished by a bulldozer in Bongaigaon, Assam.

On Wednesday, the administration demolished another madrasa in Assam’s Bongaigaon. It is alleged that this madrasa was being used to carry out terrorist activities. Many bulldozers were called to demolish the Markajul Ma-Arif Kuariana Madrasa built in Kabatari Part-4 village. A large number of military forces were also deployed in the area.

Recently 37 people, including Imams and teachers of madrassa were arrested in Assam. They were accused of being associated with terrorist organizations AQIS (Al Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent) and ABT (Ansarullah Bangla Team). Since his arrest, the administration has been taking action to demolish the madrassas. Earlier on August 4 and 29, the administration had demolished two more madrasas.

According to the report, there are about 1000 private madrasas in Assam, in which about 1 lakh students are registered.

Government is destroying the hard work of years in one day
AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal said that it takes 20-30 years to build a madrasa, but the government is destroying it in a day by using bulldozers. There are lakhs of schools in the state and if any person in the school is a criminal, then the school will be demolished.

224 students used to take training in a two-storey madrasa
On Tuesday night, 224 students were evicted from the two-storey building before the madrassa was demolished. There were reports that some terrorists in the guise of religious teachers have entered the state and are engaged in anti-state activities. On August 30, Goalpara police had recovered many important documents from here by conducting a search operation. In this, a pamphlet related to ABT and a suspicious logo of AQIS were found.

According to Bongaigaon SP Swapnneel Deka, the district administration had issued an order on August 30 saying that the madrasa building could collapse at any time. They were not made according to the set standards, so it is dangerous for people to sit in it.

Assam CM had said- hub of terror
On Monday, August 29, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that madrasas are being used as training hubs of terrorists. In these madrasas instead of education, terror training is being given.

Two madrasas have already been demolished
On August 29, the state government demolished Sheikhul Hind Mahmudul Hasan Jamuil Huda Islamic Academy Madrasa in Dhaklipara area of ​​Barpeta district. There was also an allegation of conducting terrorist activities in this madrasa. Also it was illegally built on government land.

On August 4, the administration took action for the first time on charges of connection to Sarullah Bangla and AQIS organization. The administration first arrested its operator Mustafa, then his private madrasa was demolished by bulldozers.

Controversy over madrassas in Assam for 2 years
In Assam, for the first time in 2020, the state government stopped granting madrassas. At that time Himanta Biswa Sarma was the education minister of the state. According to media reports, about 800 madrasas were closed in the state in two years due to the closure of grants. However, more than 1000 private madrasas are still running. They are operated by All Assam Tanzeem Madaris Koumia.
