Google Pixel Fold Officially Announced. Is It Coming To India?

Weeks after the ‘pocketable’ Pixel Fold’s launch date was leaked, Google has officially teased it will launch its Galaxy Fold rival at its I/O annual developer conference on May 10. The tech giant will also unveil its much-awaited Pixel 7a at the event. This is the first time that Google has officially teased its first foldable smartphone.

“✨May The Fold Be With You✨ https://goo.gle/3HDkPwZ #GoogleIO #PixelFold May 10,” Google tweeted.

A number of rumours and leaks have been doing the rounds about the first foldable from Google and now, the company has confirmed its existence in a short teaser video via its social media channels. The short teaser shows the Pixel Fold’s hinge mechanism, design, inner display and software. Google has also mentioned that the device will be announced on May 10, which is also the first day of its annual I/O 2023 conference.

The Pixel Fold is likely to be priced above $1,400 which roughly translates into Rs 1,14,300, so India launch of the device is less likely as it has been a difficult market for its devices.

Other than the Pixel Fold, Google is likely to unveil the Pixel Tablet at the upcoming event.

Meanwhile, a previous report by CNBC citing internal documents, said, known by the codename “Felix”, the upcoming Pixel Fold is said to have the “most durable hinge on a foldable” phone. Google Pixel Fold is likely to be priced upward of $1,700 and it will give competition to Samsung’s $1,799 Galaxy Z Fold 4.

The Google Pixel 7a will be unveiled in India on May 11, a day after the tech giant unveils it at the Google I/O annual conference on May 10. Now, a famed tipster named Roland Quandt has shared promotional images and specs of the Pixel 7a, which shows the handset in three colours: carbon, arctic blue and cotton. However, there’s no mention of the coral/orange colour that was teased a few days back.
