Google Pixel phones are getting even more AI-powered features in the December feature drop.

Google Pixel devices are renowned for being AI-first devices that provide access to some of the best on-device and cloud-based AI features, such as the Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur. In the December feature drop for Pixel phones, alongside essential security updates, Google has introduced additional AI-powered features for Pixel devices.
Here, let us go through the five new AI-centric featuring coming to various Pixel devices:
Video Boost For Pixel 8 Pro
This feature utilizes the Tensor G3 chipset and the capabilities of the Google Cloud to enable users to obtain processed videos that not only look better but can also be enhanced in terms of exposure, thanks to NightSight in video. The process involves capturing a second video while you are recording, incorporating additional data. Both clips are then transmitted to Google’s servers when you are connected to Wi-Fi, and once processing is complete, Google sends you a Photos notification.
Gemini Nano Enables Summarize In Recorder, Smart Reply in WhatsApp
With the addition of Google’s latest AI model, the Recorder app now lets users employ the Summarize feature to generate summaries of conversations, interviews, and more, without requiring an internet connection. Additionally, Gboard’s Smart Reply feature can be used in WhatsApp, allowing users to generate contextual responses. This is also only available for the Pixel 8 Pro.
Photo Unblur Adds Support For Dogs, Cats
Previously, the Photo Unblur feature could only sharpen photos of people. Now, Google states that AI can be used to enhance the clarity of photos featuring your pet dog or cat, which can be challenging to capture, often resulting in blurry images.
Better Portrait Light Effects
Google Photos introduces a new AI model that enables the balancing of Portrait photos, whether they are old or new. This is achieved by eliminating harsh shadows and adjusting overall lighting. This feature is available for Pixel 6 series and later.
Night Timelapses Look Better on Pixel 8 Series
Available for both the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 8 Pro, this feature allows users to capture more detailed timelapse videos at night. You just need to keep your device on a steady surface, or on a tripod.
