HRTC bus leaves from Keylong to Delhi

Tourists and local people will now be able to reach Leh directly from the country’s capital Delhi. Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has started bus service on the world’s highest route Delhi-Leh after almost 9 months. This bus left Keylong for Delhi at 5.30 am today.

On the very first day, 30 passengers boarded the bus from Keylong to their next stop. HRTC has also started online booking. With the commencement of bus service on this route, people will now be able to visit Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Leh-Ladakh by a single bus.

A fare of Rs 1740 will have to be paid for the journey of about 1026 km from Delhi to Leh and this journey will be completed in about 30 hours. This bus was closed in September 2022 after snowfall last year. Last year the bus service started on June 15, but this time it started a week earlier.

The journey on the Delhi-Leh route will be no less than a thrill. After leaving Delhi, the bus will first reach Himachal and then Leh via three plain states. From this bus, tourists will be able to enjoy the beautiful views of 16500 feet high Baralacha, 15547 feet Nakilla, 17480 feet high Tanglangla and 16616 feet high Lachung Pass.

In these passes, the bus will move forward by tearing the high mountains of snow. This wonderful sight is seen only for 3 to 4 months every year.

3 drivers and 2 conductors will provide services

3 drivers and 2 conductors will provide services on the Leh-Delhi route for a journey of 30 hours. On departure from Leh, the first driver will take the bus to Keylong. The second will travel from Keylong to Sundernagar, the third from Sundernagar to Delhi. Similarly, one conductor will run from Leh to Keylong and another from Keylong to Delhi.

Bus will leave from Leh at 4.30 am

HRTC Keylong depot in-charge Anchit Sharma told that this bus will leave Leh daily at 4.30 am and leave Keylong for Delhi at 5.30 am. At the same timing, another bus will leave from Delhi to Leh. Means one bus will go to Delhi everyday and the other will go to Leh.
