Goa Election 2022: ‘TMC wants to confuse voters with alliance talks’ | Goa News – Times of India

MARGAO: Former MLA Francisco ‘Mickky’ Pacheco said that the reported talk of the TMC-Congress alliance initiated by the Kolkata-based party was aimed at “confusing” voters, particularly those of Benaulim, as the former MLA Churchill Alemao is likely to be the TMC candidate. “This is to create doubts in the minds of voters,” Pacheco said.
He said that though there were many aspirants for the Congress ticket, only he had the capacity to win from Benaulim “on the strength of my personal votes.” “I have many options if Congress denies me a ticket. I have 25 years of experience in politics, having contested assembly polls five times, and winning four times. I have a clean image with not a dot of corruption,” he said. Congress’ Benaulim block president Menino Fernandes supported Pacheco’s claims and stated that he would work only for the “winnable candidate.”
Further slamming TMC, he said,“TMC entered Goa claiming that its objective was to defeat BJP. However, it tried to build its base in Goa by taking away MLAs and workers of Congress. And it now has the audacity to ask for an alliance with Congress.”
