NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Berry on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over the country’s GDP growth projections despite the current uncertain global scenario. He said that the International Monetary Fund has predicted that India’s GDP rate will be 6.5 percent despite the current conflict (in Ukraine) and the situation after Kovid-19 on the other hand.

Berry arrived in Jamshedpur on a day-long visit to attend the 9th Dr. Verghese Kurien Memorial Lecture on ‘India’s SDG Localization Model on Sustainable Development’ organized by XLRI School of Management. Talking to the media, he said that the Reserve Bank of India has projected the GDP growth rate to be 7 percent and the government is aiming to achieve this figure in 2022-23.

Referring to the development in Jharkhand, he said that it has around 12 to 14 aspirational districts, including Ranchi, which can help the state achieve the improvement in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Berry said the implementation of government schemes, including in the health, sanitation and education sectors of the state, can yield good results with close monitoring.
