GCET Cancelled: JEE Main, NEET Score To Be Used For Engineering, Pharmacy Admission

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Goa has made the decision to discontinue the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) for admission to engineering and pharmacy courses. Starting from the academic year 2024-25, DTE will facilitate admissions to BTech and BPharm professional courses through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2024) and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET UG 2024). Earlier, the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) was responsible for conducting the GCET exam and managing the centralised counselling process for admissions to engineering and pharmacy courses provided by colleges in Goa.

“Admissions to Engineering B.E. Degree courses in the State of Goa in the year 2024-25 shall be carried out on the basis of Score/Rank at Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Main)-2024 to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in January 2024 and April 2024,” the official notification read.

Admissions to the B.Pharma degree course in Goa for the academic year 2024-25 will be determined based on the best aggregate score in Physics and Chemistry, either from JEE-Main 2024 Or NEET-2024. Therefore, candidates seeking admission to the B.Pharma course can choose to take JEE-Main 2024, NEET-2024, or both.
