Gates Shares 48-Yr-Old Resume To Inspire Job Seekers. Everyone Starts Somewhere, Says LinkedIn

New Delhi: Young or experienced, job seekers often face trouble with creating a perfect resume to attract employers. Billionaire Bill Gates on Friday decided to share his 48-year-old resume on a professional networking site in a bid to inspire millions of job seekers out there.

The 66-year-old American entrepreneur-philanthropist was in his first year at Harvard University when he made this resume 48 years ago.

Sharing it on his LinkedIn account, Gates wrote: “Whether you’re a recent grad or a college dropout, I’m sure your resume looks a lot better than mine did 48 years ago.”

As per the one-page document, Bill Gates had taken a lot of courses and “received A’s” in all of them. “Everyone starts somewhere,” read the LinkedIn comment on the post.

However, contrary to Bill Gates’ caption, his achievements were not as trivial as he makes them out to be. One can see in his resume that his student life showed promise for what was to follow in his professional life.

A LinkedIn user responded, “That is legit a power resume, look at all those projects around traffic flow and scheduling. Most adults don’t tackle that kind of problem, let alone a 17-18 year old teenager.”

“Bill Gates I read a 20 year old, with 5 programming languages, straight As at Harvard (ok, there’s grade inflation), designed an entire cobal based payment system. That IS NOT MEDIOCRE, circa 1974!!” another user wrote.

The post was also flooded with sarcastic comments on ‘hiring’ the billionaire philanthropist: “Dear Mr. William H. Gates, Thank you for taking the time to consider a position with Microsoft. While we respect your achievements and appreciate your interest in applying, after careful consideration we’ve decided to move forward with other candidates. We will keep all of your information on file; if circumstances change we may consider you for any appropriate positions that become available. We wish you success in your career.”

Bill Gates is known worldwide as the tech visionary who co-founded Microsoft and also the non-profit – Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He is followed by over 35 million people on LinkedIn.
