Collector Himanshu Gupta said that the gas leaked during illegal gas refilling in Kirti Nagar at around 2 pm on Saturday. It then exploded and caught fire. Cars parked nearby also came under fire.

After getting information about the incident, DCP Amrita Duhan reached the spot. He said that preliminary investigation revealed that illegal gas refilling work was going on in the house. Before the accident, the family members were transferring gas from one cylinder to another. Apart from firemen on the spot, the team of Civil Defense, SDRF and Municipal Corporation is engaged in relief work.
