In Jodhpur’s Kirti Nagar area on Saturday, 4 people were burnt alive and 16 were burnt in a gas cylinder explosion. An area of about one kilometer was shaken by the blast. The injured have been admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital. Of these, the condition of 8 is critical. They are up to 80 percent scorched.
Collector Himanshu Gupta said that the gas leaked during illegal gas refilling in Kirti Nagar at around 2 pm on Saturday. It then exploded and caught fire. Cars parked nearby also came under fire.
After the accident, many domestic and commercial cylinders were also found in the house. These too had come under fire. A member of the house where the accident took place supplies gas cylinders.
Domestic and commercial cylinders released from home
Kojaram Lohar’s house is in Kirti Nagar. The family of four brothers of Kojaram live in this house. Preliminary investigation revealed that Kojaram’s son works in gas refilling. After the accident, about four dozen domestic and commercial cylinders were taken out from the house. It is being told that this house belongs to a hawker who delivers cylinders to people’s homes. Eyewitnesses said that a part of the house also collapsed in this accident.
The house also caught fire after the accident. This house belongs to Kojaram. He has a joint family. The family of four brothers of Kojaram live in this house. A large number of domestic and commercial cylinders have been found from home.
DCP told that the accident happened due to gas refilling
After getting information about the incident, DCP Amrita Duhan reached the spot. He said that preliminary investigation revealed that illegal gas refilling work was going on in the house. Before the accident, the family members were transferring gas from one cylinder to another. Apart from firemen on the spot, the team of Civil Defense, SDRF and Municipal Corporation is engaged in relief work.
After the accident, there was chaos in Kirti Nagar of Jodhpur. The area of about one kilometer was shaken. 4 people were burnt to death on the spot.

Naksh (11), Nirma (37), Shobha (50), Saroj (30), Hariram (42), Nitesh (14), Kanchan (30), Rajveer (5), Khushi (2), Parasram (25), Divyanshu (16), Ashok (33), Anraj (42), Suraj (24) and Bhomaram (60) have received burns. The name of one of the injured could not be found.

Illegal refilling was going on
In the case it came to light that illegal refilling work was going on in the house where the accident took place. After the incident, city MLA Manisha Panwar reached Mahatma Gandhi Hospital. He said that monitoring is being done from the CMO office regarding this incident. Many people are doing illegal gas refilling work in the city. It will be checked.
Apart from firemen on the spot, the team of Civil Defense, SDRF and Municipal Corporation is engaged in relief work. Many officials including the District Collector have reached the hospital.

CM Ashok Gehlot, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat have expressed their regret by tweeting. Gehlot wrote – Full details of the incident have been taken from the local administration. Union Minister of Jal Shakti and MP of Jodhpur, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat tweeted that the accident caused by the explosion of gas cylinders in Kirti Nagar, Jodhpur is extremely painful. Heartfelt condolences to the affected families. I pray for the peace of the soul of the dead.
May his family get support. I have spoken to the administration for speedy and best treatment of the injured. I will keep an eye on proper investigation of the reasons so that it can be avoided in future.
