From Delta to Delta Plus: Understanding how virus mutation works

The ‘Delta’ variant, which was the driver of the deadly second wave, has mutated. According to preliminary studies, the forward mutation, the ‘delta plus’ or ‘AY.1’ variant, is still in its early stages and shows resistance against monoclonal antibody cocktail treatments.

Public Health England, in its latest report on coronavirus variants, said that ‘delta plus’ variants had been identified in six genomes of India as of June 7.
