The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has appointed India’s Ramakrishnan Sridhar as the assistant coach for the national team.
Sridhar will assist the team in the upcoming Test match against New Zealand and the three-match ODI series against South Africa, as announced by the board on Wednesday.

R Sridhar, who has served as the fielding coach for the Indian cricket team in around 300 matches, including two ODI and two T20 World Cups, will now assist Afghanistan. Also, he was the spin bowling coach for Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2014 to 2017.
“The Afghanistan Cricket Board wishes Sridhar fills the role effectively and hopes to have long term contract with him in the future,” the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s announcement read.

R Sridhar, a Level-3 certified coach, has previously served as the assistant coach and spin bowling coach for the Indian Under-19 national team.
Sridhar began his coaching career in 2001, coached India Under-19 team during the 2014 World Cup. He worked at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru from 2008 to 2014, focusing on fielding and spin bowling. The Afghanistan Cricket Board aims for Sridhar to fulfill his role effectively and is hopeful for a long-term contract with him in the future.
Sridhar played 35 first-class matches in his career, accumulating 574 runs in 40 innings at an average of 16.40, including one half-century. He also took 91 wickets in first-class cricket. In List A matches, the former India coach scored 69 runs and took 14 wickets in 15 games.
