Former IG Zahoor Haider Zaidi reinstated: The famous Gudiya was suspended in the murder and rape case; Deployment orders will be issued separately

The government has provided relief to former IG Zahoor Haider Zaidi, who is under suspension in the famous Gudiya rape and murder case of Himachal. The Sukhu government has revoked Zaidi’s suspension. He has now been asked to report at Police Headquarters Shimla. Their posting orders will be issued separately.

Let us inform that on January 15, 2020, in the Kotkhai case, Zaidi was suspended by the former government for pressurizing former Shimla SP Soumya Sambasivan to change her statement. Soumya Sambasivan moved an application against Zaidi in the court, stating that Zaidi had pressurized her to change her statement.

On this, the special CBI court had issued a notice to the DGP. Taking cognizance of this, the court asked to take action as per the law and the state government suspended Zaidi.

Zaidi remained in jail for 562 days
Before this, Zahoor Haider Zaidi has been in Kanda Jail for 582 days. Let us tell you that on July 6, 2017, Nepali Suraj, who was arrested in Kotkhai on charges of gang rape and murder of 10th class student Gudiya, died in Kotkhai police station on the night of July 18-19.

Supreme Court granted bail to Zaidi
In this case, eight policemen including former IG Zaidi, former SP Shimla DWD Negi, the then DSP Manoj Joshi of Theog, SHO Rajendra Singh of Kotkhai police station were arrested. On March 23, 2018, Zaidi went to the Supreme Court after not getting bail in the lower court. On his petition, the top court of the country granted him bail.
