Narvekar has canceled the appointment of Ajay Chaudhary and Sunil Prabhu to the post of leader and chief whip of Shiv Sena Legislature Party in the assembly. The leader of the Shiv Sena Legislature Party in the House will now be Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Chief Whip Bharat Gogavale.

Shiv Sena has objected to this decision of the speaker. MP Arvind Sawant said that Shiv Sena will go to court against this decision of the Speaker.

Demand for disqualification of 16 MLAs including Aditya
After winning the Speaker’s election, the Eknath Shinde faction has demanded the disqualification of 16 Shiv Sena MLAs, including Aaditya Thackeray. Shinde faction chief whip Bharat Gogawale has handed over a letter to the new speaker, Rahul Narvekar.

The letter said that 16 MLAs have violated the whip. Therefore their membership should be cancelled. The speaker has taken his letter and asked to consider it. The matter of membership of 16 MLAs of the rebel faction is already in the Supreme Court.

Shinde faction wins speaker election
After toppling the Uddhav government, Eknath Shinde won the first floor test in the assembly on Sunday. BJP’s Rahul Narvekar has been elected as the new speaker of the assembly. Narvekar got 164 votes, while Shiv Sena’s Rajan Salvi got 107 votes. During the voting, 7 MLAs of NCP and 2 of Congress remained missing.

After the assembly proceedings began, on the demand of the opposition, Deputy Speaker Narhari Jirwal started the counting of MLAs. There are currently 287 MLAs in the assembly and a magic figure of 144 was needed to win. However, only 275 MLAs participated in the voting.

12 MLAs did not participate in voting

Nawab Malik (NCP), Anil Deshmukh (NCP), Mukta Tilak (BJP), Laxman Jagtap (BJP), Pranit Shinde (Congress), Datta Bhare (NCP), Nilesh Lanke (NCP), Anna Bansode (NCP) in the speaker election , Dilip Mohite (NCP), Baban Shinde (NCP), Mufti Ismail Shah (AIMIM) and Ranjit Kamble (Congress) did not take part in voting.
