The incidents of violence are not reducing before the Panchayat elections to be held in West Bengal on 8th July. In Cooch Behar’s Gitaldaha, 5 people were shot in a clash between two groups on Tuesday morning, out of which one person Babu Haq died.

Regarding this incident, local BJP leader Ajay Roy has said that the people who are spoiling the atmosphere here and the person who died have come from Bangladesh. There was a fight between them over money transaction. There is nothing to do with politics in this.

Trinamool leader said – BJP workers attacked
Meanwhile, a local TMC leader Anarul Haque said BJP workers attacked his party men in the middle of the night, following which a fight broke out between the two groups. He told that Trinamool workers were sleeping at night when some BJP supporters barged into their houses, fired at six people and brutally killed one person.

Police looking for Bangladeshi connection
Cooch Behar’s SP Sumit Kumar said that there was a clash between two groups in Gitaldaha of Cooch Behar on Tuesday morning. At present, the police are present at the spot and are probing whether the local leaders are trying to vitiate the atmosphere with the help of criminals from Bangladesh. The situation here is peaceful now.

Gitldaha is close to Bangladesh border
Gitaldaha is included in the interior of the Coochbehar district. It is very close to the international border. Boats are the only means of transport from here to Bangladesh.
