The fencing near the Kartarpur Corridor at Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur has been submerged in water. BSF personnel are monitoring the situation.

The 2.50 lakh cusecs of water released from the Ujj Dam in Jammu and Kashmir into the Ravi will bring havoc in Majha today. Apart from Pathankot, Gurdaspur and Amritsar, it will affect Pakistan’s Punjab, after which the district administration has issued an alert in 3 districts of Majha. People from low-lying areas have also been asked to move to safer places.

At the same time, due to the rise in the water level of Ravi around the Kartarpur Corridor built in Dera Baba Nanak of Gurdaspur, fencing on the border has been submerged in water. This situation is being created due to the breakdown of a Dhussi dam built in Pakistan. The Border Security Force (BSF) is monitoring the situation on the border.

Amritsar district administration remained mobilized around Ravi till late night. Minister Kuldeep Dhariwal, DC Amritsar Amit Talwad and Gurdaspur DC Himanshu Aggarwal and army personnel have made proper arrangements by visiting the areas around Ravi well before the danger. The Dhussi dam on the Beas in Tarn Taran breached once again, inundating thousands of acres of standing crops.

7 villages situated across the Ravi cut off from the rest of the country
On the other hand, 7 villages around Makoda Pattan village of Gurdaspur have been cut off from the country due to rising water level in Ravi river. Due to the increase in the water level, plying of boats has been prohibited in these areas. DC Gurdaspur has also declared holiday for schools in these areas.

According to the information received, at around 11 o’clock in the night before Sardulgarh in Malwa, there was a crack in Ghagghar in Bhallanwada area. The breach came close to the government school in Bhallanwada, after which water started gushing rapidly into the surrounding villages.

At the same time, Sadhuwala village of Mansa has lost contact with the city. People have been asked to stay at higher places. Army men are trying to reach here.

Yellow alert around Beas River
The water level of Beas river has also started increasing in Punjab. The administration of Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Tartanaran districts has issued a yellow alert in the areas around Beas. People in low-lying places have been asked to move to safer places. At present, around 70 thousand cusecs of water is flowing in Beas, which has touched the yellow alert. Camps have been set up by the district administration in schools in the surrounding areas and people from low-lying areas have been asked to stay there.

On the other hand, apart from the rivers in Punjab, the Meteorological Department has also issued a yellow alert. This yellow alert has been issued in entire Punjab. The Meteorological Department says that it will rain intermittently in different areas of Punjab. If the rains are more than normal, the ongoing relief work in Punjab will be affected. People’s difficulties may increase further.
