Two students from West Bengal’s Hooghly, who were set to sit for their class 10 examinations, fled from their home in Rishra to Ajmer Sharif as they had no preparations for the exam.
After eight days of tracking, Chandannagar Police Commissionerate tracked both the girls, went to Rajasthan and brought them back.
Just three days before class 10 examinations, these two girls went out from their residence stating that they were going for coaching class. However, they did not return after that.
On the night of January 29, they called their parents stating they were in problem and needed help. The parents soon filed a complaint at the Rishra police station.
Locals said that the police jumped into action and tracked the numbers. The commissioner himself personally monitored this case and through tracking they found that they had boarded train for Ajmer Sharif.
The Rajasthan police were asked to detain them following which the Chandannagar police went and got the two girls back.
Speaking to News18, Commissioner of Chandannagar police, Amit P Javalgi said, “We shared information with all neighbouring districts. We were regularly in touch with the families of the missing girls. They had a mobile phone with them. A lady from Ajmer Sharif contacted one of the girl’s parents. We contacted the Rajasthan police and sent a team. We could locate the girls and took them to a shelter home for their safety.”
The class 10 examinations in the state has already started and couple of exams have also taken place by now.
