The Haryana government had tried to stop the farmers in Ambala but the farmers did not stop.

Today, two years have passed since farmers marched from Ambala to Delhi to protest against the three agricultural reform laws of the Centre. After 378 days long farmer’s movement, the central government had withdrawn all the three agriculture. However, the agreement made at the time of ending the movement could not be fulfilled.

Farmers allege that till date they have not received legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP). On the other hand, the farmers of Haryana are still struggling to get back the cases registered during the agitation.

Movement started on 24 November 2020
The central government enacted 3 agricultural reform laws. In protest against this, on 24 November 2020, the farmers of Haryana went to Delhi. After which thousands of farmers stood on the Singhu and Tikri border of Delhi. From there he returned on 11 December 2021, when the central government withdrew the laws.

The Haryana government tried to stop the farmers going to Delhi in Ambala. During this, lathicharge, barricading and water cannon were used to stop the farmers. Despite this the farmers did not stop and reached the Delhi border.

What happened after the movement ended?

United Kisan Morcha split: After the end of the farmer’s movement, the United Kisan Morcha got divided. About 25 farmer organizations of Punjab formed the United Samaj Morcha. Contested 117 seats in the Punjab Assembly elections. However, he lost all the seats. Even veteran farmer leader Balbir Rajewal could not win.

MSP committee formed but SKM did not agree : After the end of the movement, the central government formed a 29 member MSP committee. In which 3 members were to be taken by the United Kisan Morcha but the front raised questions on this. The front’s argument was that those who made controversial laws or those who continued to advocate them have been included in this committee. So he boycotted the committee.

Agricultural laws were made on 5th June
On 5 June 2020, the Government of India placed 3 Agriculture Bills on the table of the Parliament. After this, on 14 September 2020, an ordinance regarding agricultural laws was introduced in the Parliament. On 17 September 2020, the ordinance was approved in the Lok Sabha and then in the Rajya Sabha also on 20 September 2020, these agricultural laws were passed by voice vote. On 27 September 2020, the agricultural bills also got the assent of the President and became law.

Disturbed movement from 26 January
The farmer’s movement worsened when some protesters reached the Red Fort on 26 January 2021 during the tractor march on Republic Day. He hoisted the Kesari flag there. On which there was a lot of uproar.

Laws returned on 19 November 2021
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi suddenly announced on the occasion of Guru Parv on 19 November 2021, before the completion of 1 year of the movement, that the government was repealing all the three agricultural laws. With this step of the Modi government, the farmers said that they have won. Later in the Parliament also the approval was given to repeal these laws.
