Wedding turned out to be a dreadful dream for me, so I don’t want to think about marriage again even in my sleep. This is to say that singer Farmani Naaz came into the limelight by singing Har Har Shambhu Bhajan in Sawan.

24-year-old Farmani Naaz told in a conversation with Woman Bhaskar, ‘Born in Mohammadpur village of Muzaffarpur, grew up here. I am the fourth of six siblings. Passed 8th from the village school itself. It was 19 years in the year 2018 that the family members got married. Like ordinary girls, I too had entered my in-laws’ house with a lot of dreams, but soon I found out that the reality of my dreams is very frightening. There is another woman in my husband’s life. I tried to convince them, talk to them, but to no avail. Abuse and beatings had become a part of the routine. The whole family including my husband never gave me respect. Two words were not spoken with love. Well, this is what used to happen to all the women in that house, not just me.’

Left in-laws with one month old son
Fermani says, ‘In those days I became the mother of a son, but my son was not physically fit. He had only one hole in his nose and mouth. After seeing my son, my in-laws started torturing me. Pressure started being made on me to demand a hefty amount in dowry from my maternal uncle. My parents were able to earn their living by working hard. They didn’t have money to give me. Due to this, I had to live a life full of troubles, but one day the dam of my patience broke. I came home with my one month old son.

There was no money for milk and treatment for the child
Farmani says, ‘The financial condition of the maiden was not good. Initially, I tried to feed myself and my son by selling one or two ornaments, but soon I did not have money left even for my son’s milk. No one even took any good news from the in-laws’ house. The husband got married again without divorcing me. I was going through a very bad phase. Meanwhile, my uncle’s son Bhura Dholak used to record songs for a YouTube channel. One day he overheard me humming and offered to sing a song. The voice is good, so used to sing songs in school. The locality would recite the nazm to everyone in the neighborhood weddings, but never thought of becoming a singer.

Got a chance like this and then life changed
After getting the offer from Bhura Dholak, Farmani’s mother spoke to YouTube owner Rahul Mulhera. He told Rahul, ‘My daughter sings well, but she will not be able to work for free. He needs a lot of money. Rahul first heard the voice of the decree and then kept it with him on a salary of 25 thousand rupees per month. Along with this, he also promised to pay the full cost of the child’s treatment and separate money for his milk.

10 lakh views in 3 days
Rahul recorded a song by Farmani Naaz. When uploaded that video on his channel, it got more than 10 lakh views in three days. After this, many more songs were also recorded and Farmani became popular. In the year 2020, Rahul changed the name of his YouTube channel to ‘Farmani Naaz Singer’. Very soon the channel got more than 10 lakh followers. Rahul increased Farmani’s salary to Rs 35,000. However, now there are more than 40 lakh followers.

Farmani Naaz handles the recording of songs and other work between 9 am and 6 pm. After this, she spends the remaining time with her son.

Farmani reached the stage of Indian Idol
In the year 2020, Farmani Naaz went to Mumbai to sing a Bollywood song with Kumar Sanu, for which he also got 45 thousand rupees. Auditioned for Indian Idol, in which Farmani was also selected. Farmani reached the stage of Indian Idol. Sang songs there, but due to the deteriorating health of the son, Farmani had to come back. However, with the help of some people and an organization, Farmani’s son got treated. When the son got better, Farmani started focusing on singing his songs. Now his entire focus is on the video record.

Now there is partnership with Rahul and elder brother
Rahul created three more YouTube channels named ‘Naaz Bhakti, Naaz Najm and Naaz Music’. Rahul, Farmani and his elder brother Farman are the three partners in these three channels. There are eight people, including Rahul and Farmani, three singers, one editor and other staff. Whatever income is left after taking out the salary and other expenses of the rest of the people, it is shared among the three. Now his financial condition is also improving. When Farmani went to Bhajan Har Har Shambhu for the Bhakti channel, it went viral. The Ulemas threatened him, which Farmani did not pay heed to. Farmani said that when I was thrown out of my in-laws’ house. The husband got married again without giving a divorce. Me and my son were not able to eat food for two full times, then no one came forward to help. Then no one consoled me. What about the people, people keep on saying something or the other.

With the help of Rahul Mulhera, Farmani auditioned for Indian Idol 2020 and went to the select, but had to return because of her son.

For me, marriage is a scary dream, which I do not want to see even in my sleep.
Right now the age is only 24 years, so have you thought about getting married again or not? In response to this question, Farmani says that no, at the moment not at all. Marriage has been a nightmare for me. I don’t want to see such a scary dream again even in my sleep. I am happy with my family and son. I want to focus on my singing. I want to become a big singer. You have to make your mark. Give your son a good life. One brother and one sister are not married yet. I have to help my parents and siblings.

Farmani is crazy about the nightingale
Farmani loves listening, humming and singing the songs of Sur Kokila Lata Mangeshkar. She is busy in the studios from 9 am to 6 pm for the recording of songs. Before and after, she spends time with her son.
