The US Air Force (USAF) displayed the fifth generation F-35 fighter jet for the first time outside the US. It was displayed at the ongoing Aero India show in Bengaluru. The supersonic, multi-role F-35A Lightning 2 and the F-35A Joint Strike Fighter demonstrated their flying capabilities during a five-day aerospace and defense exhibition at the Yelahanka Air Force Station in Karnataka.

Onlookers watched as the F-35A Lightning 2 demonstration team took off Tuesday after a journey from Hill Air Force Base in Utah, USA. Apart from the F-35, the F-16 Fighting Falcon also gave a demo.

Two American F-35 fighter aircraft were displayed for the first time at the Aero India show.  Apart from this, the American team has also displayed F-16 and F-18 fighter jets, which will be offered to the Indian Army.

The F-35 represents American fighter technology
Major General Julian C Cheater, Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force, told that the F-35 represents American fighter technology. Aero India Show is the best platform to showcase the F-35.

B-1B Lancer is a supersonic heavy bomber
Meanwhile, the USAF on Tuesday expanded its lineup for Aero India 2023 with the B-1B Lancers arriving after their journey to India from their temporary duty location at Anderson Air Force Base Guam.

The B-1B Lancer is a supersonic heavy bomber. It can carry both guided and unguided weapons in the US Air Force. It is considered the backbone of America’s long range bomber force.

The 14th edition of Aero India began on Monday at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru. This air show will run for five days. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it.
