After the decline in Corona cases, the Election Commission has given exemption for election rallies in Punjab. Now rallies can be held indoors with 50% of the hall capacity. On the other hand, if there is a rally in the open ground, then there can be a rally with 30% of the people of the capacity. These rallies will be held at the places fixed by the Election Commission. However, for the time being, the ban on road shows, walking tours, cycle, bike and other vehicle rallies will remain in force. Apart from this, the count of 20 for door to door campaign will remain fixed as old. At the same time, the campaign will be banned from 8 pm to 8 am.

Commission will keep an eye

The Election Commission has clarified that it is necessary to have multiple entry and exit gates at the venue of the rally. The organizers of the rally will have to follow all the guidelines related to Corona. There the District Magistrate will appoint a nodal officer to get the corona precautions followed. However, its responsibility will be on the DC and SSP of the district.

Status will be reviewed on February 11

The Election Commission will now review the status of the ban again on February 11. Earlier on January 8, as soon as the model code of conduct came into force, the commission had banned rallies, road shows etc. After this, this ban has been extended 3 times. However, during this time, the commission had given permission for indoor meetings with one thousand people. The commission says that this step has been taken after the report of the Chief Secretaries of the election states and their observers.
