Ex-India Cricketer & KKR Mentor Gautam Gambhir Casts Vote At Polling Station In Delhi

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 6: Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian cricketer and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) for East Delhi who opted out of this year’s polls due to his mentoring responsibilities with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, casts his vote in the of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 6, in Delhi.

Earlier this year, ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections and the IPL season, Gautam Gambhir announced on his official X (formerly Twitter) account that he requested BJP party president Jagat Prakash “JP” Nadda to relieve him of his political duties to focus on his cricket commitments. He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the opportunity to serve the people.

“All I want to say is that everyone should come out and vote in as large numbers as possible. This is our power, this is our democracy and to make democracy even more powerful it’s important for people to come out and vote in large numbers. The way government has worked in last 10 years, yes, they have worked for the development, the country has moved forward and hopefully people will realise that as well and people will do that today as well, especially the people of Delhi,” he says to the media after casting his vote.

KKR Make It To IPL 2024 Final Under Gambhir’s Mentorship

Under the mentorship of Gautam Gambhir and captained by Shreyas Iyer KKR are set to play the IPL 2024 final on May 26. KKR finished the IPL 2024 league stage as the top team in the IPL 2024 points table as they won nine out of their 14 IPL matches. They faced Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Qualifier 1 and defeated them by a commanding margin of 8 wickets. However, they will still face SRH in the final as Pat Cummins-led side defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Qualifier 2 and advanced to the final.
