Counting has started at 3 centers for 5 seats in Himachal’s plain district Una. First the ballot papers are being counted. EVM counting will start after 8:30 in the presence of agents of political parties. A total of 26 candidates are in the fray to win the 5 seats in Una. A total of 447 employees have been put on duty for the counting of votes. First trends by 9-10 am and first results by 12.30 pm can also come.

The prestige of Mukesh Agnihotri, the chief ministerial candidate from the Congress, is directly at stake in the Haroli seat in Una district. Minister Virendra Kanwar is badly trapped in Kutlehar. Former BJP President Satpal Satti is desperate to settle scores with Congress’s Satpal Raizada on the Una seat. In this context, elections on these seats are important for both Congress and BJP.

First result of Una and Gagret
District headquarter Una and Gagret seats have fewer votes. Their counting will be settled in 7-7 rounds, that is, the trend is expected by 9-10 am and the final result is also expected at 12:30 pm. Chintpurni and Haroli seats have 8 rounds each. There will be a maximum of 9 rounds of counting of votes for Kutlehar seat. Its result will be available only till 1 pm at the end.

Counting of votes will be done at these centers
Counting centers have been set up at 3 places for 5 seats in Una district. Counting of Haroli, Kutlahar and Una Assembly will be held at the counting center of PG College. The counting of votes for Chintpurni seat will be held at Amb’s Maharana Pratap College. Arrangements have been made to count the votes of Gagret seat at Polytechnical College, Ambota.

Female vote % more
In Una district, more women than men showed the trend of voting. A total of 1 lakh 69 thousand 158 women cast their votes on all the five seats here. In the total voting, the number of male voters was 1 lakh 29 thousand 396. On November 12, 76.91 percent polling was done in the district.

The highest turnout was recorded in Gagret seat at 78.78 percent and the lowest in Chintpurni seat at 73.19 percent. In Haroli constituency, 78.13 per cent voting, 77.55 in Una and 76.82 per cent in Kutlehar was recorded. Two third gender votes have also been cast in the district.

EVM under tight watch in strong room
After voting on November 12, EVMs from all the five assembly constituencies of the district were transported to the strong room built at 3 places. The paramilitary force was stationed 24 hours outside these strong rooms since then. Today, around 8.30 am, the EVM will be brought to the counting center under tight security for counting of votes. As per the instructions of the Election Commission, after the completion of counting, all EVMs will be sent to the district headquarters, where they will be kept safe for 45 days.
