‘Ek Villain Returns’ Box Office Day 2: Arjun Kapoor, John Abraham Starrer Is Steady

New Delhi: ‘Ek Villain Returns’, that released on Friday, had a decent opening and collected Rs 7.05 crore on its first day.  John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria starrer saw a marginal increase in its collection on the second day. The film earned Rs 7.47 crores on Saturday bringing the total to Rs 14.52 crores.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the box office numbers of the film. He wrote, “#EkVillainReturns collects in similar range on Day 2… Marginal increase at national chains, but down in mass pockets… All eyes on Day 3… Fri 7.05 cr, Sat 7.47 cr. Total: ₹ 14.52 cr. #India biz.”

According to Bollywood Hungama, the film stayed flat in the mass belts, whereas the multiplexes jumped by 7%, resulting in a marginal jump in business.  Ek Villain Returns is expected to jump by 15% on Sunday taking the opening weekend total to Rs 24 crores.

Disha Patani distributes sweets
Meanwhile, the film’s actress Disha Patani was seen distributing sweets on Saturday for the response that the film got and box office numbers. She also expressed her gratitude for the love her character is getting. “The response has been so surreal! I am so grateful for all the love audience has showered for Rasika (Disha`s character). It feels great to be back in theatres, especially the youth enjoying it. I have been going through your messages all this while and have nothing but a broad smile on my face reading them. It`s a feeling of immense fulfillment and I hope you continue to shower your love on us,” the actress was quoted as saying by DNA India.

Arjun Kapoor pens a note for director Mohit Suri
Recently, Arjun Kapoor penned an emotional note for ‘Ek Villain Returns’ director Mohit Suri on Instagram. He shared behind-the-scenes photos with the caption that read, “Collaborating with some filmmakers is always an enriching experience. Working with Mohit Suri has always been cherishable for me and I thank him with my whole heart for giving me Gautam with Ek Villain Returns. A layered character with so many facets made feasible only with the vision of Mohit Suri. Gratitude for him believing in me for this extremely special film. Look forward to working on more massy and meaningful content in the future.”

‘Ek Villain Returns’ is the sequel to the 2014 hit film, ‘Ek Villain’, which starred Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh. The movie is produced by Ekta Kapoor’s production house ‘Balaji Telefilms Ltd’.
