Eid Moon 2023: Shawwal Moon Sighted In India On Friday

Eid Moon was sighted on Friday in India and Muslims prepare to celebrate Eid ul Fitr on Saturday, a joyful and triumphant day when the faithful claim the ultimate prize: their return to a state of purity. Fasting is observed in the ninth month of the year, and Eid is celebrated on the first day of the tenth month of the year, according to the Islamic calendar.

The date of Eid is determined by the sighting of the moon. The day when the moon is visible is known as Chand Mubarak. The date of Eid is first announced in Saudi Arabia.

On the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, Muslims prepare mouth-watering delicacies after fulfilling one of Islam’s five pillars, and feasts are held and shared with family, friends, neighbors, and just about anyone in need of sustenance; it is believed that no soul shall remain unfed on the day of Eid.

PM Modi Greets Nation On Eid-ul-Fitr

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended his wishes to the nation on the occasion of Eid. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “Greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr. May the spirit of harmony and compassion be furthered in our society. I also pray for everyone’s wonderful health and well-being. Eid Mubarak!”

Eid 2023 Bank Holiday: Cities, States Where Banks Will Remain Closed On April 22

Public and private sector banks will remain closed on April 22, 2023, in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr. As per the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar, the fourth Saturday of the month is designated as bank holiday for Eid. Banks in many states will also remain closed on April 21 in observance of Jumat-ul-Vida, Garia Puja, and Id-Ul-Fitr/Ramzan Eid.

Banks were closed in Agartala, Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar, and Thiruvananthapuram on April 21.

While on April 22 banks will remain closed in the different cities which includes Belapur, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad – Telangana, Imphal, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong and Srinagar.
