Earthquake: An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 on the Richter scale struck Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening around 7:55 pm. The tremors were also felt in Delhi and the adjacent Non-Capital Region (NCR).

According to National Center for Seismology (NCS), the epicentre of the quake was in the Hindukush region in Afghanistan at a depth of 200 km.

There was no immediate report of any injury to anyone or damage to any property.

Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 on the Richter scale hit Delhi-NCR in the early hours of January 1, according to National Center for Seismology.

Notably, NCS is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring earthquake activity in the country.
