Former Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu will file her nomination for the President’s post on behalf of NDA at 12 noon today. Many veteran leaders of the party including PM Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah will be present on this occasion. June 29 is the last date to fill the form.

Earlier on Thursday, Draupadi Murmu met PM Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Shah and BJP President JP Nadda. After this, the nomination paper was signed at the residence of Union Minister Prahlad Joshi as a proposer and supporter for the nomination of the presidential candidate.

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan became the first mover in Murmu's nomination paper.  He tweeted, 'It is my utmost privilege.'

Jagan came in support of Draupadi
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday announced that his party will support NDA’s Draupadi Murmu in the presidential election. CM Jagan believes that supporting Murmu is in line with his ideology of always emphasizing on representation of SC, ST, BC and minority communities. Jagan will not be able to attend the filing of nomination by Murmu due to hectic schedule. However, Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy and Lok Sabha MP Midhun Reddy will be present.

Who is Draupadi Murmu
Draupadi Murmu is a tribal leader from Odisha. Draupadi Murmu, who was the ninth governor of Jharkhand, has been an MLA from Rairangpur in Odisha. He is the first Odia leader to be made the governor. Earlier, she had also been a minister in the BJP-BJD coalition government from 2002 to 2004.
