29-year-old Amritpal Singh was born in Jallupur Kheda in Baba Bakala Tehsil of Amritsar. After 12th his family moved to Dubai. Where he had a transport business. In the same year, Amritpal returned to Punjab and his video went viral very fast on social media. Young people joined them. In September 2022, suddenly Amritpal Singh’s name started being added to the post of Jathedar of Waris Punjab De.

Controversies also started joining him after Amritpal Singh came to the post of Jathedar. The family members of Deep Sidhu himself have questioned his selection. The family has repeatedly said that Amritpal has been selected in a wrong way. But Amritpal opposed this and asked to sit on this post only after the consent of the members.
