Departments of 5 ministers changed in Punjab: Aman Arora, who made statements in Moosewala murder, reduced in stature, 2 departments back

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday reshuffled the portfolios of 5 of his 14 ministers. The five ministers whose portfolios have been changed include Aman Arora, Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair, Laljit Singh Bhullar, Chetan Singh Jodmajra and Anmol Gagan Mann. In this reshuffle, reducing the status of Aman Arora, he was taken back two major departments.

Aman Arora had made a statement about Punjabi singer Sidhu Musewala, who was killed by gangsters a few days back. The portfolios withdrawn from them include Local Bodies and Information and Public Relations. The CM took back two departments from Arora and gave him the Governance Reforms department in return. Till now this department was with Meet Hare.

Aman Arora will now have the responsibility of a total of four departments. The information and public relations department withdrawn from Arora was given to Chetan Singh Jodamajra, while the food processing department was taken from Jodamajra and handed over to Laljit Singh Bhullar.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has kept a total of 10 departments including Home, Vigilance, Industry, Jail and Urban and Housing with him. The CM did not make any changes in the departments of his 9 ministers. The ministers whose portfolios were not changed include Harpal Singh Cheema, Dr. Baljit Kaur, Harbhajan ETO, Lalchand Kataruchak, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Brahmashankar Zimpa, Harjot Bains, Inderbir Singh Nijjar and Dr. Balveer Singh.

Shuffle for the second time in two and a half months
In Punjab, for the second time in two and a half months, there has been a reshuffle in the portfolios of the ministers. Earlier, on January 7, 2023, after the resignation of the then cabinet minister Fauja Singh Sarari, there was a reshuffle in the portfolios of the ministers.

Sarari had to step down as a minister after being accused of corruption. Dr. Balveer Singh was sworn in as the new cabinet minister on January 7, a few hours after Sarari’s resignation. Dr. Balbir Singh is AAP’s MLA from Patiala Rural seat.

After becoming the minister of Dr. Balveer Singh, the chief minister had kept the prison ministry himself, changing the portfolios of many ministers. At that time, Dr. Balveer Singh was given the responsibility of Health Ministry, Chetan Singh Joramajra for Food Processing and Horticulture, Harjot Singh Bains for Education, Meet Hair for Mining Department.

On Wednesday evening, an order was issued by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to reshuffle the portfolios of 5 ministers.
