Demand for revision in timings of Mangaluru-Vijaypura train. Mangaluru News – Times of India

MANGALURU: Vijayapura Railway Action Committee and a railway worker from Mangaluru have urged South Western Railway (SWR) to revise Mangaluru-Vijayapura train timings.
Rail users have appreciated the move of SWR to resume train service between Vijayapura and Mangaluru via Arsikere-Hasan.
However, the Vijayapura Railway Action Committee in its memorandum stated that the important issue of timing has not been addressed.
It is learned that the timings of the proposed train will remain the same, which means the train will reach Mangaluru Junction at 12.40 pm and leave Mangaluru at 4.30 pm.
Mangaluru-based activist GK Bhat, supported by technical advisor Anil Hegde and Bengaluru-based Ravisha, said a large number of people are traveling overnight between Vijayapura/Hubli and Mangaluru by road.
a lot of pilgrims come Kukke Subrahmanya and shrine temples and laborers visit regularly.
Furthermore, students from the north are Karnataka are pursuing their higher education in Mangaluru and nearby places and people from northern interior places of Karnataka visit Mangaluru to avail advance medical facilities.
Rail users have stated that to get the best out of train service, the train should reach Mangaluru before 9.30 am and leave after 5.30 pm.
Activist GK Bhat has written to Bengaluru Divisional Railway Manager to revise the timings of day trains running between Mangaluru and Yesvantpur on 06540, 06212, 06576 and 06211,06539,06575. Presently, three pairs of trains are running as special trains between Mangaluru and Yesvantpur. Out of these three trains, two trains depart Mangaluru at 11.30 am and reach Yesvantpur at 8.30 pm and one train departs Mangaluru at 9.15 pm and reaches 8.30 pm.
Rail users want the above trains to reach before 6 PM and hence start the train service from Mangaluru Junction at 8.15 AM. They have also requested to revise the timings of their pair train in the opposite direction so that the train resumes service from Yesvantpur at 9.30 am instead of 7 am at present.
Bhat said that the time to reach Yesvantpur is not convenient especially for elderly citizens and other passengers who have to travel onward.
