The Delhi government will soon launch a winter action plan to fight air pollution that engulfs the national capital every year from November onwards. All departments have been asked to submit primary reports by September 7. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai held a joint meeting with all the 30 departments concerned at the Delhi Secretariat regarding the winter action plan.

Officials from the Environment Department, DPCC, Development Department, Delhi Cantonment Board, CPWD, DDA, Delhi Traffic Police, Delhi Police, DTC, Revenue Department, DSIIDC, Education Department, DMRC, PWD, Transport Department, NHAI, Delhi Jal Board, DUSIB, NDMC were present at the meeting.

15-POINT WINTER ACTION PLAN

All the departments have been assigned different responsibilities on the prescribed 15 focus points, according to which the winter action plan will be prepared. All the departments have been directed to submit their preliminary reports and suggestions to the Environment Department by September 7 based on which the concerned department will submit a detailed action plan to the government under the winter action plan by September 15.

15 focus points have been identified under the winter action plan based on which the next winter action plan will be prepared. The 15 focus points and its nodal agency are as follows:

It has been seen in Delhi that the factors of the surrounding states also play a major role in increasing pollution. That is why dialogue will be established with the central government and neighbouring states to prepare a joint action plan to fight air pollution.
