Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal To Begin 3-Day Gujarat Visit Today Amid Talks Of ED Arrest

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be on a three-day visit to Gujarat from Saturday where he will meet his party leaders and workers in the state in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Kejriwal’s visit to the western state comes amid talks of his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the alleged irregularities in the implementation of the liquor policy.

The Aam Aadmi Party national covener will address public meetings and party workers during his election tour, reported PTI quoting sources as saying.

He is also slated to meet the jailed AAP legislator Chaitar Vasava during his three-day visit.

Earlier this week, leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party sounded alarm that the Enforcement Directorate could raid Kejriwal’s residence and arrest him on Thursday. The claim was made a day after the AAP chief skipped third summons issued to him to appear before the enforcement agency in connection with the liquor policy case.

Kejriwal accused the BJP-led Centre of getting him arrested so that he could not campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, adding the ED summons issued to him was aimed at hurting his “biggest asset” honesty and defaming him.

“My biggest asset is my honesty and the BJP wants to hurt my honesty with fake cases. I have always fought for the country, every breath of mine, every drop of my blood is dedicated to the country,” Kejriwal asserted.

He, however, said that he would cooperate with the enforcement agency provided he was issued legally valid summons.

After skipping the ED summons, Kejriwal wrote a letter to the federal agency seeking a questionnaire and the intent of the summons served to him. The AAP leader also stated in the letter that Rajya Sabha elections are scheduled on January 19 and that he has to participate in the Republic Day programme on January 26 as Delhi Chief Minister.
