Dawood’s close aide Abdul Karim Tunda acquitted: 2 cases of bomb blast in Rohtak in 1997; 28 out of 80 witnesses did not appear

The court gave its verdict on Friday in the serial 2 bomb blasts that took place in Rohtak, Haryana, about 26 years ago in 1997. Bomb blast accused Abdul Karim alias Tunda has been acquitted by the court due to lack of evidence. Tunda is considered close to most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.

According to police records, in the year 1997, there were 2 serial bomb blasts in Rohtak city. The first happened in a street vendor in the old vegetable market. At the same time, about half an hour later, there was a bomb blast on the fort road as well. 8-9 people were injured in these bomb blasts. Police had registered 2 cases. In which there were a total of 80 witnesses but 22 of them did not reach the court.

After the bomb blasts, the police had investigated the whole matter. After which it was said that Abdul Karim alias Tunda, resident of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, is behind these bomb blasts. But, at that time Tunda had gone abroad. After this Abdul Karim alias Tunda returned from abroad and was arrested in the year 2013.

Abdul Karim alias Tunda’s first date was on 26 October 2013 after his arrest. After this, a total of 69 dates took place. In which February 17 means today is the last date. In which the court of Additional Sessions Judge Rajkumar Yadav acquitted Tunda.

Tunda’s lawyer said – Police could not prove the allegations
Defense counsel Vineet Verma said that Abdul Karim alias Tunda was accused of involvement in the conspiracy including bomb making, training and blasting. But the police could not prove any allegation in the court. That’s why the court acquitted him. It can be said that he was acquitted for lack of evidence.

He told that two cases were registered against Abdul Karim alias Tunda in Rohtak. There were total 42 witnesses in FIR No. 70, out of which 34 witnesses appeared. On the other hand, in FIR No. 71, 38 witnesses were made, out of which only 18 witnesses appeared. Many witnesses have died and many have not turned up.

There were 33 cases at the time of arrest
Abdul Karim alias Tunda had a total of 33 cases at the time he was arrested. Out of which there were cases in Rajasthan and UP including bomb blasts in Panipat, Sonipat and Rohtak. Of these, so far only the sentence has been pronounced in the Sonipat blast. On the other hand, in two cases, the Rohtak court acquitted on Friday.

4 out of 5 cases going on now 5 cases are going on against Abdul Karim alias Tunda in UP. Out of which 4 cases are going on in Uttar Pradesh and one case is going on in TADA Court of Rajasthan. Abdul Karim has been acquitted in other cases. Abdul Karim alias Tunda is currently lodged in Ajmer Jail in Rajasthan.

The main accused in both these bomb blast cases, Muhammad Amir Khan, has already been acquitted by the Rohtak court. Mohammad Amir Khan was acquitted on February 26, 2011 in FIR No. 70 of a bomb blast and on January 9, 2012 in FIR No. 71.
