Dalit punished for entering temple in Uttarakhand: Tied with rope, thrashed with burning wood all night

In Uttarakhand, a Dalit was punished for going to the temple. The villagers tied the Dalit with a rope and then thrashed him with burning wood the whole night. According to media reports, the case is of January 9 in Salra village of Uttarkashi district. Its information has now come to the fore.

Police said that 22-year-old Ayush had gone to the temple to offer prayers. The upper caste people present there got angry seeing him. Then people surrounded him and beat him up. The victim informed the police about the incident. After this, on January 10, the victim was admitted to the primary health center for treatment, where he was referred to a higher center in view of his critical condition.

Uttarkashi SP Arpan Yaduvanshi said that on the basis of Ayush’s complaint, a case was registered against five villagers under the SC/ST Act.
