Dr. CV Anand Bose has been appointed as the Governor of West Bengal. President’s Press Secretary Ajay Kumar Singh issued the order related to the appointment on Thursday. Earlier, Jagdeep Dhankhar was the Governor of West Bengal, in July he left the post after contesting the Vice Presidential election. After that he won the election and also became the President. Jagdeep Dhankhar was the Governor of West Bengal for almost 3 years. On several occasions, Dhankhar also summoned CM Mamata Banerjee regarding the law and order situation in the state. Manipur Governor LA Ganesan was given the additional charge of West Bengal after Jagdeep Dhankhar stepped down. With the new appointment, Ganesan will now be relieved of this charge.

Who is Dr. Anand Bose
77 years old Dr. Bose is a retired IAS of 1977 batch. He is also the first Fellow of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, which trains the country’s top civil servants. Dr. Bose has also taken the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Fellowship. During civil service, he has worked as Secretary to the Chief Minister of Kerala and Principal Secretary in various ministries like Education, Forest-Environment, Labour, General Administration and Board of Revenue.

Has written 40 books in English, Malayalam and Hindi
Dr. Bose is also an excellent writer and columnist. He has written 40 books in English, Malayalam and Hindi including novels, short stories, poems and essays. Some of his books also became best sellers. Dr. Bose has also received 29 international and national awards for his contribution in various fields.

Won 15 Gold Medals in University
In recognition of his efforts in the field of housing, the United Nations has selected his initiative four times as a ‘Global Best Practice’. The Government of India honored him with the National Housing Award. When Dr. Bose was at the university, he won more than 100 awards including 15 gold medals. He was the best speaker of Kerala University for 3 consecutive years.
