Chandigarh University located at Ghaduan.

The driver-less car has only been conceived in India. This dream has been made a reality by the students of Chandigarh University. Mechatronics students of Chandigarh University, Ghaduan have developed an ‘i-powered driver-less car’. The university claims that this car will reduce road accidents. Solar rise system will work as an energy backup in this car. This car has been manufactured at a cost of Rs 3.80 lakh. This autonomous car has been made under the name of NOMAD. This car is capable of operating with little or no human input. Such cars can play an important role in reducing road accidents.

The team that made the car includes Satyam Sharma, KVS Mohan Vamsi, Navjot Singh and Sarabasukh Surya. The electric cars made by the students of the university work on advanced control systems apart from being based on a variety of sensors like radar, lidar, sonar system, GPS, odometry. This includes special systems for identifying the above navigation paths, obstacles and contextual signals. University’s Professor Chancellor Dr. RS Bawa said that such vehicles can be used to connect metro stations with local areas, at airports for transportation, in golf clubs and in universities etc.

Car equipped with these features

This car diagnoses the condition of vehicles based on a proper road-legal structure. It is equipped with a variety of sensors and cameras. The car starts collecting data as soon as it hits the road. This data provides machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms to guide the system for different traffic conditions. The car will work with precision even in fog. The vehicle offers on-screen touch buttons for headlights, windows, indicators apart from a 15-inch touch-screen in the car for automatic transmission.

based on artificial intelligence

This car is based on Artificial Intelligence. It is fully capable of plying on congested roads even in the midst of obstructions like other vehicles, people walking on the road, potholes etc. If something comes in front of the car, then the car will stop immediately by applying brakes and will change course. This car works on Deep Neural System. Through this, the camera detects objects and roads in each frame captured by the sensor. The car stays on the right track using GPS data.

Fully charged in 5 hours

More than 200 programming codes have been developed in this car through machine learning. This car gets charged in 4 to 5 hours. It has 2 speed transmission. This car achieves a speed of 25 kilometers per hour. Adding new features to this car, it has been solarized. It will be charged from the solar panel mounted on the top of the car. So far Rs 3.80 lakh has been spent in the manufacture of this car. Sensors have also been installed in the car for self-parking.

Worrying condition of road accidents

According to the data received, India has only 1 percent of the vehicles in the world. Despite this, India accounts for 11 per cent of the road accidents in the world. Every year 5 lakh road accidents take place in the country. In these 1.50 lakh people lose their lives.
