Malana Hydro Power Project Stage-2 in Manikaran Valley of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh is under threat. The gates of the dam of this project have been blocked due to silt, due to which the water of the dam is overflowing and all the water is now flowing over the dam.

Due to water flowing over the dam, there is a danger of its breaking. Water is being released by breaking the edge of the dam, the danger of its breaking has increased due to the water coming out from the edges, because there is raw soil on the edge of the dam.

Many houses were evacuated in the lower areas of the dam.

The Kullu district administration has issued an alert to the residential areas in view of the possibility of dam burst and in view of the danger, the district administration has got the residential areas living on the banks of the river from the dam to Bhuntar evacuated, so that loss of life can be avoided.

DC Kullu Ashutosh Garg told that the water has overflowed due to the gate block of Malana Hydro Power Stage-2 Dam. He said that he has talked to the company management. He says that due to the gate being blocked, he is not able to operate it.

The water of Malana river will come to Bhuntar and will be available in Beas. In such a situation, if the dam breaks, then the water level of Beas river will also increase. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​However, the amount of water in the dam is 30 cusecs. In such a situation, there is nothing to worry about.

The people of Malana have hundreds of bighas of fertile land on the banks of the ravine near Chowki village. There are hundreds of residential areas on the banks of river Beas from Jari to Bhuntar Bajaura and Pandoh Dam. In such a situation, an alert has been issued.
