Iman Singh, MP from Sangrur district of Punjab and son of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) President Simranjit Singh Mann, has reached the court against Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and Panchayat Minister Kuldeep Singh. He has claimed 125 acres of land in his name in the land dispute. Iman Singh has filed a criminal complaint against Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and cabinet minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal in the district court of Chandigarh.

Simranjit Singh Mann is the President of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). He was born in 1945. His father Lt Col Joginder Singh Mann was the Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly in 1967. Simranjit has now become an MP for the third time. The first time was from Tarn Taran in 1989 and the second time in 1999 from Sangrur. Simranjit has been taken into custody by the police about 30 times, but he was never punished. It is worth noting that former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh’s wife Preneet Kaur and Simranjit Singh Mann’s wife are sisters.

Controversial decision of Simranjit Mann

Simarjit Singh Mann had joined the police in 1967. On 18 June 1984, he resigned as Group Commandant in CISF Bombay in protest against Operation Blue Star. Thereafter he was taken into custody. Then he won the Lok Sabha elections in 1989, but in 1990 he was prevented from entering the Lok Sabha. Mann wanted to take the kirpan with him during the Parliament session and when it was not approved, he resigned from his post in protest. When he became MP again in 1999, he did not insist on taking the kirpan inside.
